About

With experience in administration and analysis, I had been puzzling over my true vocation for many years. When I finally found woodworking, I took a leap of faith. Whilst retraining and earning a Level 3 qualification in carpentry from Portsmouth College, I combined my creative instincts and organisational skills to launch Tortoise Woodwork. This move has been enhanced by my degree in history of art & architecture, and previous employment in the forestry sector. I now have over five years of full time woodworking experience, and over three years of running my own business. I work logically and collaboratively with my clients to bring thoughtful, high-quality designs to life, adding value to natural materials through craftsmanship.

Why Tortoise Woodwork?

It refers to the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, where a diligent Tortoise outwits a competitive and excitable Hare through ingenuity, patience and discipline. This reflects the idea of nurturing gradual growth, using a careful approach to build more resilience and flexibility.
